Description:
Onsite provides a team consisting of contracted experienced medical care
personnel who provide soldiers with their Personal Health Assessments (PHAs).
We need Medical Providers to be part of the Onsite Team.
If you are a licensed medical care Nurse Practitioner, or Physician's
Assistant.
Requirements:
Some travel and long days are common. Military experience preferred,
with Common Access Card(CAC)
The Department of the Army requires its members to have an annual
Periodic Health Assessment (PHA). The PHA provides health maintenance
and health promotion/prevention counseling on an annual basis with the
objective of improving overall health, reducing health risk behaviors,
and minimizing the number of health visits required throughout the year.
It also ensures the member is medically ready for military duty.
The PHA consists of:
1. Health Assessment Survey: Service members will complete a
health assessment using a self reported tool such as: the online Health
Assessment Review Tool Screening (HART- R) version or Health Risk
Appraisal (HRA). The service member will provide results to you for
review and appropriate health prevention/promotion counseling. Please
include a copy of the survey results and documentation of
counseling/education in the member’s medical record.
2. Clinical Preventive Services (CPS): U.S. Preventive Services
Task Force recommended age and gender-appropriate CPS will be completed
as part of health maintenance.
3. Problem-based Examination: If the member indicates a health
problem, including post-deployment issues (Post-deployment Health
Assessment – DD 2796 and Reassessment - DD 2900 form(s) review, if
required), the appropriate assessment and focused examination will be
initiated.
4. Individual Medical Readiness (IMR) Review and Update: All
immunizations and lab tests will be reviewed for currency and updated as
needed. All immunizations should be documented in MEDPROS. All labs
should be documented on the Standard Form 600. All immunizations
documentation must include the Lot number, manufacturer, date and
location given. The member must be verified as medically ready to
perform military duties and for worldwide deployability.
5. Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) clearance or waiver
documented, if required. Recommendations for physical readiness training
clearance will be made based on the results of the member’s completed
portion of the PHA and your clinical findings. The Service member is to
bring the completed PARFQ with them to the appointment.
6. Occupational Medical Surveillance, if required for
job-specific requirements.

THE POSITION: FOUNDING DIRECTOR & CHAIR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICIAN
ASSISTANT STUDIES
DUTIES:
Reporting to the Dean of the Samson College of Health Sciences, this
individual will lead in the development of a Professional Physician
Assistant Studies Program and serve as the Chair of the newly created
Department of PA Studies. The Director/Chair will be responsible for the
planning and implementation of a graduate-level curriculum resulting in a
Master of Science in PA Studies which will compliment an existing
pre-professional program that leads to a Bachelor of Science and prepares
students for the professional phase of their training. The pre-professional
program provides a solid foundation in the
natural sciences, social sciences and humanities, and teaches students how
PAs are integrated into medical practices. As a University with a
long and impressive history of educating students for careers in health and
related sciences, the Physician Assistant Studies Department is a natural
outgrowth of a College rich in instructional and clinical resources to
support the program. The Samson College of Health Sciences, the site of the
Physician Assistant Studies Department also comprises
Exercise Science and Wellness Management, Health Science, Medical
Technology, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy, and offers fully
accredited undergraduate and graduate programs leading to bachelor’s ,
master’s and doctoral degrees. The University is one of just five schools
in the country to offer an entry-level professional doctoral program in
Occupational Therapy. The Founding Director and Chair will bring leadership
and vision to the department advancing both the profession and the goals of
the University to educate caring, competent Physician Assistants who will be
instrumental in transforming healthcare in the 21st century.
This individual will be responsible for presenting the program to the
Pennsylvania Department of Education and ARC-PA and will shepard the
accreditation process. The program is on the ARC-PA agenda for provisional
accreditation in September, 2012. The Director and Chair will:

Establish the mission and goals of the PA Studies Program.

Provide leadership in the development of the program while working
closely with the dean, program faculty, and other stakeholders to insure
that the curriculum is structured in accordance with established
educational standards and practice as well as the mission and goals of
the program.

Manage all aspects of the PA program including the negotiation of
clinical placement sites, clinical preceptors, adjuncts, PA faculty and
PA Advisory Board.

Recruit, retain and mentor faculty in support of their and the
University’s career objectives and focus, respectively.

Be an internal advocate for the department promoting and supporting its
mission, faculty and research to the dean’s office and within the Samson
College of Health Sciences.

Be responsible for the organization, management and administration of
the Department of PA Studies.

Be responsible for developing and oversight of an annual
program budget and monitoring allocation of financial resources.

Foster relationships and collaboration with chairs and
directors within the College and across the University to create

THE PERSON:
Education Masters Degree in Physician Assistant
Studies required, Ph.D. or other relevant doctorate preferred.
Certification by NCCPA; must be eligible for licensure in Pennsylvania,
or an allopathic or osteopathic physician who must be
board certified by ABMS
or AOA approved specialty board. A physician
must hold current licensure in the state of Pennsylvania.
Experience: This individual will possess at least
5 years experience in an academic faculty position or equivalent teaching
experience and have participated in the ARC-PA accreditation process.
